Abstract

In this paper, Mike Davies teases out the issues around curriculum and learning that are influencing the transformation of schooling and the school environments within the context of the UK. Acknowledging that there are many options for how schools might best evolve, the paper gives both educators and designers a legible road map through the complexities of current educational thinking. Implicit within the paper is the argument that effective learning environments need to accommodate the agreed curriculum structure as well as being agile enough to accommodate future possibilities. The paper concludes with some provocations around the future of education.
